DAVID CROMBIE PARK

Toronto, ON

The Planning Partnership led a multi disciplinary team to create a broadly supported Revitalization Plan for David Crombie Park in Toronto. At 800 metres long, stretching 5 blocks, this linear park serves as both an important civic connector and a beloved neighbourhood amenity. The Revitalization Plan will define a transformative vision for  the investment in the public realm to enhance the amenities, function and quality of this ageing gem, originally designed as part of the planned St. Lawrence neighbourhood in the early 1970’s.

The Plan was developed through extensive community engagement that included a 3-season public life survey, 50 one-one-one conversations with residents, a well attended kick off panel discussion about the Park, its history and best practices, 3 public design workshops and two online surveys. Hundreds of people were involved in the evolution of the park design from initial input on the vision and fundamental design principles, through the exploration of options, to the confirmation of the final master plan. The City has committed $13 million to construction of The Planning Partnership’s Plan, recognized as being a well-supported master plan, with construction to begin in 2022.
