MIDLAND OFFICIAL PLAN REVIEW
Midland, ON
The Planning Partnership is the lead consultant retained by the Town of Midland to complete its current Official Plan Review.
The Official Plan Review process involves a community discussion about the future of Midland, addressing growth management, the natural heritage system, affordable housing, urban neighbourhood design, commercial/ employment lands, infrastructure, the waterfront, a multi-modal transportation system and parks. This project emphasized an approach centered on ensuring effective and meaningful public consultation, with a new vision statement and guiding principles established during the early stages of the project through a Visioning and Principles Workshop. In particular, our team worked with the Town on an expanded scope to prepare an extensive public education and consultation process, specifically responding to community concerns with respect to establishing a natural heritage system.
With the release of the 2017 Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, our team is in the process of adapting the draft Official Plan to this changing policy context, and undertaking an additional public consultation process to ensure that Midland will have a new Official Plan which addresses its unique needs and aspirations, while conforming with Provincial legislation.
