The One is an 80-storey retail and residential complex being built on the southwest corner of Bloor and Yonge Streets in Toronto’s Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood. The public realm at grade is a key focus for the Yonge and Bloor intersection, which is one of the most important civic addresses in the City. The public realm design includes widened sidewalks on both Bloor Street and Yonge Street, with new opportunities for street tree planting. The Bloor Yorkville Design Guidelines which feature granite paving, curbs and benches, with signature round tree grates are being extended to the new building face on Bloor Street and will wrap around the building on its Yonge Street frontage, to create an intersection treatment. New, nine metre wide sidewalks on Yonge Street offer unprecedented opportunity for street trees and seating on Yonge Street. A forecourt on Bloor Street will offer seating and seasonal planting at the retail entrance.
