ONE PORT STREET EAST MASTER PLAN / SECONDARY PLAN
Mississauga, ON

The Planning Partnership was retained by the City of Mississauga to lead a multi-disciplinary team in the preparation of a Master Plan/Secondary Plan for this high-density, mixed-use development on a prime waterfront site in Port Credit, currently owned by Canada Lands Company.  The preferred Master Plan integrated an improved marina facility, mixed-use and residential development blocks, landmark and destination building opportunities and locations for public art. All of the development potential was set in a comprehensive public realm/open space framework intended to provide full public access to the water's edge, and to integrate with the evolving Port Credit community.

The Plan was developed with an extensive public and stakeholder consultation strategy as its foundation. The process involved meetings, workshops, and public meetings with members of the public, landowners, key stakeholder groups, an advisory panel, and the City staff project team. Points of consultation occurred in each of the four phases of work - vision and principles, development options, preferred plan, and implementation strategy. The Master Plan, and the Secondary Plan that implements it, received broad support from the City, the landowners and the public. It was adopted by Council unanimously, with no appeals.
